Export to RefWorks

Most of our databases provide direct export of citations to RefWorks. Some exceptions include: Web of Science, Nexis Uni (formerly called Lexis Nexis), and SpringerLink.

How to Get your Sources into RefWorks

Single Item Export in the Library Catalog

1) From the results page, click CITE.

2) Click EXPORT TO REFWORKS.

1) Add books and other resources to your MY ITEMS list by clicking SAVE on each item record.

2) Click MY ITEMS on the top right corner of the screen.

3) SELECT ALL ITEMS and click CITE.

4) Click EXPORT TO REFWORKS.

Single Item Export in EBSCO

1) From the results list, click the title link to navigate to the detailed record of the article.

2) On the right TOOLS menu, click EXPORT.

3) Make sure DIRECT EXPORT TO REWORKS is selected. Click SAVE.

Multi-Item Export in EBSCO

1) From the results list, add articles to a folder by clicking the blue folder icon.

2) When all articles have been added to your folder, click the FOLDER button on the top navigation bar.

3) Select (☑) all articles and press EXPORT.

4) Make sure DIRECT EXPORT TO REFWORKS is selected, and press SAVE.

Single Item Export in JSTOR

1) From the results page, press CITE THIS ITEM.

2) Click EXPORT TO REFWORKS.

1) From the results list, select (✓) each article that you would like export.

2) Under the EXPORT SELECTED CITATIONS dropdown menu, click EXPORT TO REFWORKS.

Single Item Export in Ebook Central

1) From the item record, click CITE BOOK.

2) Under EXPORT CITATION, select REFWORKS.

Single Item Export in Cambridge Core

1) From the results list, click EXPORT CITATION.

2) Under Citation Tools, select REFWORKS.

First click export citation and then click RefWorks

Web of Science

Web of Science does not support direct export to RefWorks, however, there is an easy work around.

1) From the results list, click the Wabash FIND IT button.

2) On the Wabash "Find full text" page, click EXPORT TO REFWORKS.

First click find it and then click export to RefWorks

Single Item and Multi-Item Export in Nexis Uni

Nexis Uni does not support direct export to RefWorks, but you can import citation information using an RIS file. RIS files are bibliographic citation files that are formatted for easy import into citation management tools (including RefWorks, EndNote, EasyBib, Zotero, and more)

1) From the results list, select the items that you would like to export.

2) Select the Export Citations icon, which looks like three books standing next to each other.

3) Make sure RIS FILE FOR 3RD PARTY CITATION TOOL is selected, and click DOWNLOAD.

4) Save RIS File in a convenient location on your computer.

Citation Export from Nexis Uni

RIS File Import into RefWorks

1) In RefWorks, select the +ADD button on the navigation bar, and select IMPORT REFERENCES.

Click +Add button and select Import References

2) Under IMPORT FROM FILE, click SELECT A FILE FROM YOUR COMPUTER. Then select the RIS file from where it's saved on your computer.

3) Verify that the RefWorks detects the RIS Format. Then select IMPORT.

Verify that the RIS file is detected and click import

4) If all is successful, your Import will be complete.You can access your citations in the last imported folder.

Single Item Export in SpringerLink

1) From the item detailed record, click CITE THIS ARTICLE.

2) Under CITE THIS ARTICLE, click DOWNLOAD CITATION.

RIS File Import into RefWorks

1) In RefWorks, select the +ADD button on the navigation bar, and select IMPORT REFERENCES.

2) Under IMPORT FROM FILE, click SELECT A FILE FROM YOUR COMPUTER. Then select the RIS file from your computer.

3) Verify that the RefWorks detects the RIS Format. Then select IMPORT.

4) If all is successful, your Import will be complete.You can access your citations in the last imported folder.

Single Item Export in HAPI

From the results list, click on the article title, which will navigate you to the detailed record. Click on “EMAIL– EXPORT– PRINT,” and then select “EXPORT TO REFWORKS.”

1) Under the recording, click CITE.

2) From the EXPORT LIST, select REFWORKS, and press SEND.

Single Item Export in Google Scholar

From the results list, click the quotation (") icon. Then in the CITE window, select REFWORKS

Manual Entry

If you are unable to export or import a citation, you can always enter the citation information manually. 

Under +ADD the tabclick CREATE NEW REFERENCE. Select the Reference type, and then type in the bibliographic information where applicable.
